Reports to:                     Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) through the pastor
Direct Supervisor:          Pastor
Overall Job Description: Performs janitorial duties and basic maintenance tasks
Hours per week:             16hrs, time sheet needed (any time over 16 hrs must be pre-approved)

Duties: 
-Clean John Wesley United Methodist Church (JWUMC) facilities to include sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and taking out and sorting trash and recycling.
-Provide preventative maintenance for JWUMC facilities, including changing light bulbs.
-Perform minor repairs with plumbing, door knobs, ceiling tiles, and other issues as needed.
-Set up, take down, and clean up of tables and chairs for JWUMC events.
-Maintain cleaning supply closet and coordinate with JWUMC staff about the need for cleaning and maintenance supplies.
-Report any issues or problems with the facilities to the JWUMC staff.
-Other duties as requested by Senior Pastor.

Terms of Employment
Pay: $17/hr, must keep time sheet.
Hours: 16hrs/week (9am-1pm Tuesday-Friday)
Resignation Notice: The employee will provide a written two-week notice of resignation.
Probationary Period: The first three months on the job will be probationary. If the work is satisfactory, at the end of this term, our contract will become permanent unless either party decides to terminate our relationship. If attendance or work is not satisfactory, the relationship may terminate or the probationary period may be extended. Employee will receive written notice of the result of the three month review. At the end of this term, our contract will become permanent unless either party decides to terminate our relationship.
Performance evaluation: The pastor, along with an SPRC representative, will conduct an annual performance evaluation with the employee. The position description will be reviewed and may be updated at that time if needed. The pastor and SPRC representative may meet with the employee throughout the year (e.g., quarterly) as a check-in regarding performance, employee feedback, concerns, etc.
Vacation/Time Off: The employee will provide at least two weeks’ notice of any absences to the pastor. Time off that is additional to the two weeks paid time provided must be approved by SPR ahead of time. After the probationary requirements are met, SPR will allow for two weeks paid leave per year.

All employees must adhere to The United Methodist Book of Discipline - available in the church library. All employees must follow the Employee Conduct Policy of the Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church. All employees are also bound by the Employee Handbook of John Wesley United Methodist Church. All employees must complete Safe Sanctuaries training annually.
